The cycle then repeats, but it seems the problem is the code on the site is only executing the open connection and nothing further than that. Once the connections reach the limit (50), the message about the number of users is displayed until a connection times out and becomes available again. This leaves the connections open in the sleep mode until they eventually time out at 1000 seconds. We are not able to see any actual queries being executed against the database and it seems that the connections are being opened, but then no queries are being performed and the connection close command is never issued. We killed the sleeping connections and the site no longer displays the ‘max_users_connections exceeded’ error, however, the forum still does not load. When I roll back to the previous version enabling and disabling PHP modules still works. I can roll back to the previous version of php-8.0.12 and have a fully functioning php again. Update: I now find that enabling ANY PHP module does not work under PHP 8.1. Openssl isn't enabled in the php info page:Īnd if I try and enable mongodb by moving my extension over from the previous installation, and uncomment the extension in php.ini and restarting apache again I get an error: Taking the php.ini-development and renaming it to php.ini, then uncommenting the openssl extension has no effect after I restart apache: extension=openssl I've edited the apache config to use the new version of php. I seem to have hit a wall upgrading to 8.1. I've been making upgrades on my Dev workstation using XAMPP for a long time now, from the various version 7s up through 8.012.
